An 80-metre blue rope runs across the sandy isthmus that forms the shortest border in the world. This line separates Spain from Morocco and Europe from Africa. On one side is the Rock of Vélez de la Gomera, a fortified military outpost occupied by the Spanish army for five centuries. On the other side is the Moroccan Rif fishing village of Badis, which seems to live suspended in time. When a Spanish filmmaker arrives in Badis, members of four generations of the village observe the vestiges of Spanish colonisation from the distance. 2025DocumentaryThe Shortest Border in the World
