We now turn our attention to the creative and production journeys of Rock Bottom, Black Butterflies, and Sultana’s Dream. The first was selected for the ‘Feature Films’ competition section, while the second was selected for ‘Contrechamp’. Also competitive, the ‘Contrechamp’ section, introduced in 2019, aims to “provide a better platform for the most unique proposals and those that present greater challenges to the audience.” All three films prominently feature female components. Meanwhile, Buffalo Kids, showcased in the ‘Annecy Presents’ section, serves as a prime example of a title with a strong market appeal for general audiences.
Buffalo Kids originates from a story by Pedro Solís, author of the story that inspired “Strings” (2014), a short film that holds the Guinness World Record for being the most award-winning short in cinema history.
