A japanese series version

28 April 2023

“It was a very complicated job to adapt this international IP,” - Sonia Martínez, executive producer.

The melodrama Heridas, a Buendía Estudios production for Atresmedia,
is adapting the IP of Mother –a series created by Nippon TV in Japan– to the Spanish market. Versioned in Turkey as Anne, after its premiere it became one of the benchmarks of Turkish competitive fiction.

Produced by Buendía Estudios for Atresmedia, the Spanish version premiered in mid-April on free-to-air primetime on Antena 3, and is available on the AtresPlayer Premium platform. Atresmedia International Sales manages worldwide distribution rights except for in Japan (Nippon TV).

“It was a very complicated job to adapt this international IP,” says Sonia Martínez, executive producer.

“We used Mother as a reference. Starting from a very powerful universal premise, which is motherhood and abuse, our aim was to give the story our own DNA and make it very local, since our culture and the way we approach this subject and express our feelings are very different from those of the Japanese or Turks,” she explains.

“The IP obviously has an essence that transcends, but it is that effort of adaptation that makes Wounded credible and manages to arouse the viewer’s emotion and empathy, finally making it unique content,” she stresses.
