Listen to the songs that the big screen turned into the OST of our lives.
Songs that represent an era, a genre, a character, and the personal imprint of their directors and the soundtracks that were part of their films. From pop, tracks by singer-songwriters, indie music, ballads and flamenco (both root music) as well as their drift towards pop, hip hop or urban music. The reflection of a phenomenon that goes from art house cinema to universal big screen movies, including the most independent of films.
From the extreme vision and care seen in Pedro Almodóvar's films, where music always plays a leading role and complements the protagonists to perfection (the unforgettable scene with Penélope Cruz in "Volver" where she lip syncs to Gardel’s classic tango, transformed into flamenco in this version sung by Estrella Morente) to the independent phenomenon in the film "Stories from the Kronen", an adaptation of the novel by Mañas directed by Armendáriz. Both were a huge
commercial success, a success also enjoyed by one of the anthems of the Spanish indie music, "Chup Chup" by Australian Blonde, a band from Gijón.
Flamenco and its drift towards pop is also evident in Manzanita's hit, “Sobreviviré”, which heightens the emotional and dramatic impact of the unforgettable performances of Emma Suárez and Juan Diego Botto, along with the cast of this magnificent film.
