Three brothers struggle to keep their small funeral home afloat. In a highly competitive world where belief in rituals is fading, they are forced to make drastic decisions in an attempt to modernize.

An 80-metre blue rope runs across the sandy isthmus that forms the shortest border in the world. This line separates Spain from Morocco and Europe from Africa. On one side is the Rock of Vélez de la Gomera, a fortified military outpost occupied by the Spanish army for five centuries. On the other side is the Moroccan Rif fishing village of Badis, which seems to live suspended in time. When a Spanish filmmaker arrives in Badis, members of four generations of the village observe the vestiges of Spanish colonisation from the distance. 

The animals flee relentlessly in an environment threatened by tourism, extreme weather and hunting. As the search progresses, the fog is erasing the entire landscape in its path, as if it were a disease that affects an entire territory.

Ane is an eccentric octogenarian actress with the spirit of a golden age Hollywood diva. Every day, she fights to maintain her independence and her love for John — a retired singer facing severe cognitive decline — while dreaming of becoming a great actress in a society that often sidelines the elderly as mere spectators. Fate brings other seniors into her journey, proving it’s never too late to reinvent yourself and truly live.
