FIRST LOOK
For its 13th edition (August 9-11, 2024), the Locarno Film Festival's First Look initiative will spotlight Spanish cinema, thanks to a collaboration with the ICAA, Spain’s Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, and ICEX Spain Trade and Investment. Works in progress will be presented to an audience of sales agents, buyers, programmers, and representatives of post-production support funds, with the aim of assisting their completion and boosting both their sales prospects and festival trajectories.
A distinguished group of producers will present six exceptional projects in progress, featuring unconventional narratives and new audiovisual languages: BODEGÓN CON FANTASMAS (Quatre Films, Cuidado con el Perro, This and That, Sideral), DREAM OF ANOTHER SUMMER (Colibrí Studio, The Attic Productions, I.B. Films), L'AGUAIT (TV ON Producciones, Admirable Films, Lamalanga Produccions Audiovisuals), MARES (Polar Star Films, Intactes Films), PREFIRO CONDENARME (Nós Produtora Cinematográfica Galega), RÍO ABAJO UN TIGRE (Boogaloo Films).
This focus offers a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant cinematic landscape of Spain and to discover the broad appeal of Spanish films to international audiences. It is a great honor to contribute to expanding business opportunities for these emerging producers and to share their diverse and bold stories with such an enthusiastic audience of film professionals.
